2nd Apollo Jazz Network Artist/Tour announced

170164_585099648659_20805534_32317457_653441_oWe’re thrilled to be able to announce our second Apollo Jazz Network artist and tour for 2013 – NYC saxophonist Leah Gough-Cooper!

Leah won an international scholarship in 2005 when she was 16 to attend the world-famous Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. She has studied with such jazz icons as Jerry Bergonzi, Ran Blake, George Garzone, Joe Lovano, Miguel Zenon, Dave Samuels, Kenwood Dennard and Tiger Okoshi. Leah graduated from Berklee in May 2009 and graduated from the New England Conservatory with a Masters in Jazz Performance in May 2011. She currently leads her own group, Human Equivalent, and participates in various projects in New York, NY. She has worked with Danilo Perez, Fred Wesley and more…

In July 2013, Leah will debut her new project, a sextet featuring some of the most exciting young jazz musicians in the UK.

The line-up will be – Leah Gough-Cooper (alto), Riley Stone-Lonergan (tenor), Kim Macari (trumpet), Sam Leak (piano), Tom Wheatley (bass) and Jay Davis (drums).

The group will play original material by Leah and the band and Apollo are currently booking performance dates for the group.
