May News – LOCUS tour and other news…

May is almost at an end – here’s an update of what I’ve been doing.

It’s been a long time in the making, but we’re finally (almost) ready to announce final details of the LOCUS tour. We’re starting and ending the tour with jazz festival appearances and playing some really great venues in between. The music has been sent out (when your band lives on both sides of the atlantic, the rehearsal process has to be modified a little…) and now the countdown can begin!

Keep an eye out for the press release and other media mentions in the coming weeks…

We’re happy to welcome David Austin Grey from JazzShark in Birmingham to the Apollo network. Work is underway to schedule the next tour, due to take place in autumn. The next one-off event will be on June 1st, and will feature guitarist Kathy Dyson at HEART in Leeds. We’re working hard to formalise the network and will be getting the word out to the press in the coming weeks (or months…). We’re always open to new partnerships and new musicians to join the collective, so please get in touch if you’d like to know more or get involved.

I’ve been quite preoccupied with funding applications lately – first spending lots of time writing and submitting them, and now spending lots of time waiting for responses. It’s an interesting world, that of arts funding, and it’s one that will thicken your skin if nothing else. I should hear from one application in mid-june, and have my eye on another source of funding which I’ll submit an application to as soon as I hear from the first one. In the end, someone will say yes…
